The Conifer Team
Conifer is a collaborative team of talented, independent thinkers. Coming from a variety of disciplines including anthropology, sociology, psychology, design, strategy, journalism and the fine arts, we affectionately think of ourselves as academic renegades.
Conifer Is Growing
We seek team members who approach problems curiously, frame questions thoughtfully, listen openly, observe carefully, and who can iterate on the fly. We specialize in extracting the “so what” from mounds of interesting data. We are open to a range of educational and professional experience from those just completing undergraduate studies in anthropology, sociology, psychology, design and related fields to those who have advanced degrees or years of consulting experience.
We find that the folks who thrive at Conifer are eager to jump right into research planning, fieldwork, data analysis, writing, information modeling, video production, facilitation, and prototyping.

A Little History
Partners Ben Jacobson and Anne Schorr founded Conifer in Evanston, Illinois in 2001. In 2005, we relocated our growing crew of social scientists and designers to downtown Chicago. In 2011, we moved a few blocks to the historical Maller’s Building—an eclectic building that suits our quirky bunch of story enthusiasts and data geeks.
